19 Weeks!

How far along?:  19 Weeks!  Baby P is as big as a mango!
Weight gain/loss:  5lbs.+
Symptoms:  A few bouts of nausea...I thought I was over that!  And I believe I had my first case of heartburn...
Maternity clothes?:  Leggings, tummy sleeve, and a couple tops...
How is the sleep?:  Great!  I am having some crazy dreams though...
Best moment this week?:  If you know me, you know I LOVE breakfast!  It is the best time of day as far as I am concerned.  For the last 15 weeks, I wake up as hungry as a crocodile and barely have enough time to pour some cereal before I turn into a caveman.  But last Sunday, I MADE BREAKFAST.  Like, woke up and cooked!  It was amazing:)  Hello biscuits and gravy, you have never been so delicious!  And hearing baby's heartbeat and feeling LOTS of movement!
Told family and friends?:  Yep!
Miss anything?:  Other than doing up my pants, not a thing!  Being pregnant is such a blessing and I can't complain one bit!
Any movement?: Tons, and I love it!  Baby is starting to kick back if I poke at my belly for a minute.
Cravings?:  A maple doughnut...and potato salad: YUM!
Anything make you queasy or sick?:  Doing the dishes in the morning.  Go figure, thanks Josh!
Have you started to show yet?:  Yes
Gender prediction:  Still 75% boy, 25% girl...
Any labor signs?:  Zero
Belly button in or out?:  In, but it gets pretty close to flat in the evenings.
Any "pregnancy" moments?:  Yes, today Josh asked what time it was, I told him 7:43 and it was 12:53...losing brain much?
Looking forward to:  Josh feeling movement, and finding out the gender!

18 Weeks

How far along?:  18 Weeks!  From head to bottom, baby is the size of a bell pepper!
Weight gain/loss:  5lbs.+
Symptoms:  Achy tailbone, and cravings.
Maternity clothes?:  Leggings, tummy sleeve, and a couple shirts...I am dying to break out my swimsuit!
How is the sleep?:  Good!  Lovin' the body pillow!
Best moment this week?:  Seeing baby in our anatomy scan and hearing that so far, all is well and healthy!  We got to see the sweet thing open its mouth, kick lots, and empty its bladder, big accomplishments! ;)
Told family and friends?: Yes!
Miss anything?:  Lunch meat:( This sweet baby is way better than anything I miss though!  Can't complain one bit!
Any movement?: And LOTS of it! Baby P is a mover and a shaker!  I sneezed the other morning and I am convinced the poor thing was doing cartwheels!
Cravings?: Fruit all the way!  Especially pineapple.
Anything make you queasy or sick?: Nothing much this week...good feeling!
Have you started to show yet?:  Yes, lots of comments from strangers.
Gender prediction:  At our ultrasound, the tech said 75% boy! Or 25% it is still up in the air!  Poor thing was sitting Indian style so I wiggled around, then when they uncrossed their legs, the umbilical chord was perfectly hiding everything we needed to see!  A few more weeks and we will know for sure.
Any labor signs?:  Nope
Belly button in or out?:  Haha oh that thing is looking strange!  Almost flat, Josh is really not excited to see it much that I think he has nightmares!
Any "pregnancy" moments?:  Haha yes, I was setting up the babe's swing and carseat/stroller, and just started bawling cause I was so happy our baby would be sitting in these things in just a few short months!
Looking forward to:  FINDING OUT THE GENDER!!!!!!!! And Josh feeling some movement from the outside:)

In other news:

I walked into the nursery this morning and found our balloons like that!  Maybe it means something?!  75% boy eh? ;)

Baby's swing that I know will be a hit!  It has a built in mirror for the baby to look at himself/herself as they swing:)

And the car seat and stroller:)

Now for some ultrasound pics:
This one is of baby's foot, we didn't realize the scary Halloween face until we got home!

And the profile:

And the gymnast!  The tech said I was having a Braxton Hicks right here and that is why baby is all scrunched up:(  Poor little thing!

On the last 3D picture, the tech was describing what we were looking at and she completely freaked me out by calling the umbilical chord (which you can see to the right of the head) the spinal chord and I thought: "why is it clear up there?!"  It was so cool to see our baby in 3D!  It became much more real and it makes me so thankful for the technology we have!

I can't believe how in love I am with this little one already:)
Have a great day!

Nursery Bookshelves!

Remember these beauties?

I happen to have a really handy dad, the kind that can tackle anything.  He is also the kind that would help someone out just to help.  My super awesome, handy, helpful dad helped me create those shelves!

Here is how it started:
-I knew that I wanted my shelves to be longer than the ones found above, those ones are 27" long, so we went with 3'.
-My dad cut the pieces of wood down to 3' each, then we figured out where we wanted them placed.  The shelves from the blog linked above were partially glued together,  but my dad suggested we use screws exclusively, he was the brains of this operation so we went with it!  Because of this, we had to slightly rearrange the pieces of wood and how they would stack.

Above you can see my little drawing of the board measurements and how they were screwed together in a cross section of a shelf.

When they were all put together, I Josh sanded them for me (thanks honey!), he is a pro at sanding.  Then we took them home to paint.

Since spray paint is a pregnancy no-no, I used some leftover glossy paint from the white wall I painted a few weeks ago.

As soon as those puppies were dry, we hung them up and no more than five minutes later, I had put our collection of books up!

I love love LOVE how they turned out!
My dad was so helpful with this and I could not have done it without him! Thanks dad!

If you have any questions, leave it in the comments and I will do my best to answer:)

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend, we are off to Utah!

17 Weeks!

How far along?: 17 weeks:)
Weight gain/loss: Gained 5 lbs. at my appointment yesterday...whoa momma!
Symptoms: Eating like a starved gorilla, a couple headaches and achy tailbone, but feeling pretty good!
Maternity clothes?:  Just my tummy sleeve and leggings so far...
How is the sleep?:  Pretty good, except for right now...I cannot turn my mind off!
Best moment this week?: Feeling one extra strong karate kick from the outside!  It was the best!  Listening to the bean's heartbeat, and scheduling our next ultrasound:)
Told family and friends?: Yep
Miss anything?: Buttoning my pants...
Any movement?:  Feeling more and more each day!  The kicks get stronger and I am feeling some crazy acrobatics in there!
Cravings?:  Pineapple, strawberries, and steak...
Anything make you queasy or sick?:  Walking down the dog food isle at the grocery really reminded me of my prenatals...
Have you started to show yet?: I'm gonna go with yes, I had the first stranger ask me when I'm due
Gender prediction: For whatever reason, I am still thinking girl...we will find out in FIVE days!!!
Any labor signs?: Nada
Belly button in or out?:  Still in...poor thing...
Any "pregnancy" moments?: Walking out of the grocery store and realizing that my tummy sleeve is no longer covering my wide open pants.  Then walking to the car and getting frustrated because my key isn't working...then I realized it wasn't my car...great!  "No sir, I wasn't trying to steal your car I promise..."
Looking forward to: Our anatomy scan to make sure the babe is growing just like it should and finding out the gender and calling baby P by his/her name!  Any guesses? ;)

On Mother's Day...

I can't help but sit and think about all the Mothers in my life that have taught and shaped me.  That picture from our wedding one year ago with my mom and my three beautiful sisters makes me realize how much my sweet mom has done to make us the women we are today.

My oldest sister Katelyn, to the far left, has two sweet boys, Krew and Brody.  Watching her become a mother three years ago was one of the funnest things to experience!  She teaches her boys every day and I am so thankful that they have her for a mother, to shape them and teach them to become the men they will need to be someday.

My sister Ashley, to the far right became a mother this last March, to a sweet baby girl, Bentley Ann and we love her so much!  It is such an amazing experience to watch her teach her sweet little girl already!  Bentley doesn't understand much yet, but I know that she can feel the love her mother has for her.

Then I think about all the mothers in my life that are not my biological mother, but those amazing women that have rubbed off on me, there are more than I can count!  Without these strong women to interact with, I know that I wouldn't be the person I am today.

I think about my wonderful Mother-in-Law, Laura, and how she shaped Josh to become the person he is today and I am so thankful for the time and effort she put forth to raise such a wonderful man that I am lucky enough to spend forever with.  I think about the things she teaches me, and I am so thankful to have her in my life.

I think about my sweet baby that we have yet to meet, and how I have only been a mother for 17 short weeks.  But in those 17 weeks, I have felt a love that I cannot explain and couldn't possibly comprehend before becoming pregnant.  I feel now that I have a little taste of how much my mother has worried, dreamed, and hoped for me through my life, and now I can only start to begin to feel that way for my own child.

I think about my own amazing mother and the sweet spirit that she is.  I think of the struggle it was for her to raise not only six of her children, but her brother and sister after their parents were killed.  I think of the strength that would take, and I know that I don't have that in me.  I think of the times we would be less that delightful children and the love that she had for us to discipline.  At the time, it did not feel like love, but looking back, it is easy to see that that is the greatest form of love she could give.  I think of the things she has taught me from cooking to cleaning, to being a wife and a mother and I feel so lucky to have her.  Man, I got lucky.

So, on this Mother's Day, to all the mothers, thank you for your hard work, effort, and patience.  We couldn't do it without you!

16 Weeks

How far along?: 16 Weeks! Baby is the size of an avocado!
Weight gain/loss: Down 1 lb...but that was 3 weeks ago, we will find out how much I have gained in a week...hopefully I'm not in too much trouble!
Symptoms: Cravings, nausea occasionally.
Maternity clothes?:  Just leggings and tummy sleeve still.
How is the sleep?: WONDERFUL thanks to my body pillow!
Best moment this week?: Feeling more movement, working on bookshelves with my dad, and hearing our little one's heartbeat!
Told family and friends?: Yes
Miss anything?:  Once again, buttoning my pants...maybe by week 40 I will be used to this...
Any movement?: Oh yes!  I feel a little each day and I LOVE it!
Cravings?:Oatmeal Cream Pies, lots of fruit, the other day I convinced Josh to get some Salt and Vinegar chips at the store, I have never even liked those, but now they are delicious!
Anything make you queasy or sick?:  Empty stomach, mornings are the worst for sure!
Have you started to show yet?:  Just looking chubby...
Gender prediction: Last night I had a dream we had a precious, snuggly baby boy but my gut still feels like it's a girl.  I guess we will see which is more accurate, my dreams or my gut!
Any labor signs?:Nope!
Belly button in or out?:  In but it seriously looks so weird...Josh agrees.
Any "pregnancy" moments?:  I was driving in the car the other day and Carrie Underwood's "Mama's Song" came on and I couldn't hold back the tears!  I love that song and it made my hope that one day, our little one will be able to say I taught them well:)  I can't believe how much I love this little bug already!
Looking forward to: FINDING OUT THE GENDER!!! Calling our little one by name finally...I'm getting sick of referring to it as "it," feeling more movement, celebrating our anniversary (did that fly by or what?!?), and working on the nursery!

Books for Baby

One thing I want to be sure to do is read to our kids.  Some of my favorite memories growing up center around books and I want to be able to provide that for this little one:)  The last couple weeks, I have started collecting some of my favorites from when I was little, and the more books we get, the more I remember that we need!  So here are my finds this far:

I LOVE Dr. Seuss!   His imagination is wild and I love it!

A Bad Case of Stripes- I love this one!  It's about a girl who tried to fit in until she sprouted stripes.  The only cure was to eat lima beans (which she loved but was scared to admit) so she ate them and realized she didn't care what other people thought.  Love it!

The Magic School Bus, Where the Wild Things Are, If you Give a Pig a Pancake...

The Teeny Tiny Ghost-I loved this one growing up!  And we needed a Halloween story for Baby's first Halloween!

Love You Forever- My mom always teared up reading this one, I didn't understand why until it came in the mail and I teared up just flipping through the pages.  I am definitely my mother's daughter!

And, Pigs Can't Fly!

I love our collection so far!
This is my Vision for bookshelves:

Thank heavens my dad is so handy when it comes to making things!  (Thanks for helping dad!)
They will go in this corner with a beanbag or chair for when he/she gets bigger:

Excuse the sewing machine :)

And last but not least, our crib!  I LOVE IT!
Just something about those curvy legs ;)

I hope you all have a wonderful day!
